ICT renews the “Vamos a Turistear” advertising campaign for the local market

  • With last-minute promotions and more than 100 small and medium tourist companies, the platform will offer discounts, added value and interesting content at www.vamosaturistear.com.

Have you seen a humpback whale leaping meters into the air? Have you taken in the sky-blue waters of Río Celeste? Do you dare to paraglide over El Puerto? What about a tour to Isla Tortuga? Have you ever practiced yoga in the middle of the rainforest? Have you savored Limón’s Caribbean cuisine? Have you snapped a selfie during a brilliant sunset on a Guanacaste beach?

The Vamos a Turistear promotion from the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) aims to help Costa Ricans experience these wonders with new content and a new design on the digital platform www.vamosaturistear.com.

“Vamos a Turistear aims to offer reasonably priced options through a public-private partnership so that Costa Ricans can take advantage of their country, explore new destinations and adventure and wellness activities, and experience the country’s cuisine and contact with nature”, said Maria Amalia Revelo, the Minister of Tourism.

With this aim, the campaign will publish discounts, added value activities and last-minute promotions, some of which must be sold out within a maximum of 48 hours. At the outset, 100 Costa Rican companies with a Tourism Declaration or Certification for Sustainable Tourism will participate, including hotels, tour operators and rental car agencies. The destinations include beach, mountain and rural tourism offerings. The offer will increase in the coming days and will grow in a continuous manner.

What do you need to finally feel at home in your country?

“We want to tempt Costa Ricans to get to know their country while supporting local tourism companies,” said ICT’s Head of Advertising, Rafael Quesada, adding that the campaign’s long-term challenge would be to offer “the best, guaranteed offer” to locals and residents.

At www.vamosaturistear.com the tourist offer has been organized into provinces and price ranges, with the attractions displayed with images and videos. The site features sections including “Quiero”, for an à-la-carte choice of vacation options, “¿Dónde ir?” (where to go?), “Descubrí tu país” (discover your country), and “Inspirate” (get inspired).

Those interested can receive alerts of sales and information on the Vamos a Turistear Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages and YouTube channel, with a selection of videos featuring Costa Rican tourist attractions.

The campaign, which will be promoted using high-impact digital and print media, buses, television and movie theaters, is backed by the Costa Rican private sector.
