American Airlines will add a second daily flight from Dallas, Texas to two destinations, San José and Liberia
- Increase in operations translates to 14 additional weekly flights from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW)
As of December 18th, American Airlines will add a second daily flight from their main connection hub in Dallas, Texas to two destinations: the international airport Juan Santamaria (SJO) in San José, and Daniel Oduber Quirós in Liberia, Guanacaste.
The special feature of these additional flights is that they are night flights, so they leave Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) during late hours of the night and return from San José and Liberia in the early morning. Known as red-eye flights, they will be serviced by B737-800 aircrafts, with 16 first-class seats, 30 business class seats with additional space, and 126 seats in economy class.
“These new services connecting Dallas/Fort Worth with San José and Liberia, Guanacaste are a sign of our strong commitment to Costa Rica,” said Rafael Sánchez, American Airlines regional manager for Central America. “Costa Rica was the first country in Central America where American began operating almost 30 years ago, and today our presence is stronger than ever and we continue to grow.”
The Minister of Tourism, María Amalia Revelo, expressed her satisfaction with one of the largest airlines in the world having increased its investment in Costa Rica, in this case to both international airports.
“A significant number of trips to Costa Rica from the United States of America originate from the state of Texas, and a night flight like this is especially appreciated by business travelers because it allows them to work all day in their destination, and not lose a work day in Dallas or on a connecting flight when flying back early in the morning,” added the Minister.
Currently, American Airlines operates three daily flights from SJO to Miami (MIA), a daily flight to DFW, a daily flight to Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT), and a weekly flight to Phoenix, Arizona (PHX), with flights to PHX increasing to daily during the peak season. From Liberia, American Airlines operates two daily flights to MIA, five weekly flights to DFW and two weekly flights to CLT during high season. With the two new flights to DFW beginning in December, there will be up to 77 flights operating in Costa Rica per week.
The American Airlines connection hub in DFW offers over 900 daily flights to more than 200 destinations, providing multiple connection options to destinations in Asia, Europe and the United States.
The second flight to DFW that will begin operating in December will be available for sale beginning May 13th, through the American Airlines reservations department or your preferred travel agent.
