Volaris Costa Rica launches its third US destination: San José-Washington D.C. via San Salvador
- The ultra-low-cost airline has finished launching its recent round of new routes to various US destinations, which include Los Angeles, New York and now Washington D.C. via Dulles International Airport (IAD), located in Virginia.
Volaris Costa Rica, the ultra-low-cost airline that operates in Central America, Mexico and the United States, launched its latest route today, flying from San José, Costa Rica to Washington, D.C. (Dulles International Airport - IAD) via San Salvador, with the goal of connecting more Central American communities with the eastern United States. The route, which begins in San José, will travel via San Salvador on Mondays and Wednesdays. Flights originating in Washington will depart on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The new route joins three others that have recently been launched: the first, from San José to Los Angeles via San Salvador, announced on March 15, the second, from San José to Los Angeles via Guatemala City, announced on March 17, and the third, from San José to New York City via San Salvador, announced on April 17.
The goal of the fourth route announced by Volaris Costa Rica is to increase connectivity in Central America and bring families, friends and businesspeople from the region closer to the United States. “We are very pleased to be able to launch one more route from Central America this year, just as we had announced. For Volaris Costa Rica, having a stop in the US capital opens up new possibilities and strengthens our commitment to offer competitive rates to our new destinations”, said Fernando Naranjo, General Manager of Volaris Costa Rica.
“We're sure that traffic will increase considerably between the major Central American community that resides in Washington, the District of Columbia, in the state of Virginia and in the surrounding area, where travelers can also enjoy the area's tourist and cultural attractions”, he added.
“We congratulate VOLARIS COSTA RICA for beginning their operations to their third US destination, adding Washington DC to the flights they have launched to New York and Los Angeles. The US market remains the top source of tourists for the country, with around 1.3 million visitors and a potential prospective market of over $20 million. The start of operations by VOLARIS will strengthen air travel operations for this vitally important market and will provide new opportunities”, said María Amalia Revelo, Minister of Tourism.
