ICT denies links to the “Defensoría del turista ICT” Facebook page

The Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) denies links of any kind to the Facebook page called “Defensoría del Turista ICT” (ICT Tourist Ombudsman). Although the developers of the informational page use images, logos, telephone numbers, lists of businesses, information and links related to ICT, they are not authorized to use our official information, to say nothing of our institutional image.

ICT is taking the appropriate reporting measures with Facebook, especially because it believes that the improper use of this information is a serious blow to Costa Rica's leading tourism institution, which may cause unfortunate confusion to domestic and international tourists, the Costa Rican press, and the private sector in general. We also ask that users not enter the “Defensoría del Turista ICT” page, and that those who have done so either report the page or, at least, stop following it.

It should be noted that the only official Facebook profiles linked to the ICT are the pages “VisitCostaRica”, which is directed towards and international audience, as well as “Vamos a Turistear”, related to the campaign promoting internal tourism directed towards domestic tourists.

Anyone interested in further general details on tourist information, finding companies with Tourism Declarations, or complaints can contact Tourist Services at 2299-5827 or 2299-5828.
