The culture of the province of Limón is unlike any
other in Costa Rica, the expression of a multiethnic and multicultural region. A diversity of cultures coexist in the Caribbean: Afro- Costa Rican, Bribri and Cabécar, East Asian, Culí and European. In addition to the multicultural melting pot already present in the Caribbean, there are at least 54 different nationalities.
Visitors to this Caribbean region will experience a relaxed and joyful lifestyle, with cultural manifestations that fill the spirit. The splendor of its traditional carnivals, its diverse cuisine, its contagious music and dances with their captivating and optimistic rhythms and colors – these, together with its friendly people and their unique economic activities, make it a unique and memorable destination.
The province of Limón is a natural paradise formed by a combination of emerald forests, imposing mountains and paradisiacal beaches. Limón has the highest percentage of protected lands in Costa Rica, with an extensive variety of flora and fauna. Its vegetation is exuberant, as are the cultures that intermingle throughout the province.
Rural tourism is an activity that brings tourists into contact with natural heritage and cultural elements of rural life, which in turn reinforce local identity. In this area, Costa Rica offers authenticity, diversity and an exotic experience. It offers a way to see the country in a more experiential way.
