Page 9 - FORTUNA TOURIST GUIDE
P. 9

Due to the terrain, surrounded by mountains, rivers, lakes, and different types of forests in such a reduced space, Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna, and the surrounding area is a privileged place for bird watching, not only in Costa Rica but also in America.
It is a paradise for bird lovers. Of the more than 900 confirmed species in Costa Rica, you will find that approximately 500 species have been recorded in the Arenal Volcano area, including the lovely cotinga, black- crested coquette, yellow-eared toucanet, umbrella bird, emerald tanager, curassow, thicket antpitta, eagle, tiger heron, trogon, toucans, cuckoo, oropendolas, motmots, flycatchers and more.
Experienced guides will help you identify them by their shape and color, as well as by recognizing their calls.
