In the area there is an organization of local artisans called Colectivo Artesanal Limón Dulce, who produce handicrafts inspired by the rich Caribbean culture of Costa Rica, the history of banana and cacao cultivation, the rich flora and fauna of the area, and the identity of the Caribbean culture.
The Limón Dulce Collective was formed in 2018 through an assistance program of the Costa Rican Tourism Board as part of the Artesanías con Identidad Program of the Department of Tourism Development of the Directorate of Planning and Tourism Development.
This strategy aims to enhance tourists’ travel experiences by making it possible for them to obtain unique products made by local artisans from the Costa Rican Caribbean region.
This collective was created in 2011 in Guápiles and a second training was carried out in 2014 to strengthen the Limón Dulce Artisanal Collective.
